The Old Stables
This 18th century building started off its life as a stable block, part of the Alton Towers estate, then owned by the 15th Earl of Shrewsbury. Having had many uses throughout the next 250 years The Old Stables was radically transformed into a hairdressing salon by Philip and Sharon Sargeant in October 2000.
Almost 11 years to the day later the premises again underwent complete refurbishment, this time taking it back to its roots. By exposing the original beams, repairing the sandstone walls and laying a combination of beautiful tiles and solid oak flooring, the look now compliments the character of the building.
Despite its rustic charm the salon is full of modern equipment, including new Italian backwash basins and a specific technical area. Its original elements are now perfectly blended with the contemporary touches expected of a modern establishment.
The salon not only represents the ‘cutting edge’ of hairdressing but also a new era for Steve and Philip, going into partnership as father and son. Nothing could please them more than working together and inviting clients, new and old, to experience The Old Stables Hairdressing.
